Flevoland Province & Cities

    Flevoland
This youngest province was finalised in 1986 and is a creation of 5 new polders and a dam on the northern part of the IJsselmeer. The province gives populated Holland enough new space for large scale agriculture, modern towns and villages, such as Lelystad and Almere, natural landscape and many recreational facilities.
Highlights In the region:

  • Six Flags Holland
  • Amusement park with over 50 attractions, such as breathtaking roller coasters, Looney Tunes characters and live stunt shows.
  • Lelystad
    Lelystad is the capital of the reclaimed province Flevoland. The city, located on the water, is ideal for watersports.

  • Nieuwland Polder Museum
    An unique museum about The Netherlands and the struggle of its people against the water.
  • Batavia Shipyard/National Maritime Historical Center
    The Batavia Yard is foremost a center for traditional shipbuilding. Since 1985, over 200 young people have built an authentic reconstruction of the VOC Merchantman Batavia from 1628.
